SpaceX complains against military supplier for ‘dirty trick’ over Starlink

SpaceX has raised concerns about what it describes as a "dirty trick" by a competitor in the satellite communications industry. The complaint centers around interference claims made by Omnispace, a satellite communications provider, in a regulatory filing with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). SpaceX has criticized Omnispace's technical analysis as flawed and accused the company of using these claims to undermine competition, particularly regarding SpaceX's Starlink service.

The conflict arose during a regulatory debate over potential interference between terrestrial mobile networks and satellite systems like Starlink. SpaceX argued that Omnispace and other telecom operators, like AST SpaceMobile, were weaponizing the regulatory process to block innovations in satellite-to-cellular services, which are crucial to Starlink's expansion plans

This dispute reflects the broader competition in the satellite communications industry, where companies are competing to provide next-generation services, particularly in mobile connectivity and broadband.
