The Indian Institutes of Technology, which have never been accredited by an external agency, will now have to open their gates to assessment agencies. In the recently held 55th IIT executive council meeting, all the IITs were asked to go in for assessment either by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) or get all their programmes accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
