Won't Be Appropriate To Focus...: India On Pak's Presence At Goa SCO Meet

Hours after Pakistan announced that its foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari will attend a key meeting of the SCO in Goa next month, India on Thursday said it would not be appropriate to focus on participation by any one country. Arindam Bagchi, the Spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), did not give a direct reply when asked whether the Pakistan side has requested for a bilateral meeting between Bhutto-Zardari and his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar. The foreign ministerial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will take place in Goa on May 4 and 5. Mr Bagchi said as chair of the SCO, India has invited all member states of the grouping and some invitee countries for the foreign ministerial meeting. "We look forward to a successful meeting. States Get 3 Months To Give Ration Cards To Registered Migrant Labourers

The Supreme Court on Thursday granted another three months time to all states and Union territories to provide rations cards to migrant labourers registered on the e-shram portal for availing benefits of "benevolent schemes" of the government. The top court posted the matter for further hearing on October 3 and asked the Centre to file a status report. A bench of justices MR Shah and Ahsanuddin Amanullah said, "At present, we give further three months' time to the concerned State/UT to undertake the exercise to issue ration cards to the left out registrants on e-Shram portal by giving wide publicity and the concerned State/UT to approach them through the office of the concerned Collector of the District, so that more and more registrants on e-Shram portal are issued the ration cards and so that they may get the benefit of the benevolent schemes floated by the UOI and the State Government including the benefit under the National Food Security Act." In an embarrassment to the ruling Congress in Rajasthan, party leader Sachin Pilot on Thursday visited the protest site where BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena is sitting on a dharna with the family of a man who allegedly killed himself recently. Sachin Pilot, the former deputy chief minister, called for "visible" justice to the family without delay. Ramprasad Meena, 38, hanged himself on Monday in a godown over an alleged land dispute. In a video recorded before his death, he accused Cabinet Minister Mahesh Joshi and a few other people of creating problems for his family in connection with a land dispute and blamed them for his extreme step. Sanitation Workers In Supreme Court To Be Called Supervisor: Chief Justice

The humble sanitation worker called 'Jamadar' in the Supreme Court will now be addressed as 'Supervisor', with Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud deciding to change the nomenclature of certain posts, saying they reflected a “colonial mindset” having no place in a modern society. While inaugurating the ‘Supreme Court Sports, Cultural & Other Events- 2023' in which 970 court employees will participate, the CJI said the purpose behind organising the events was to encourage a holistic pattern of living for the staff and to promote their physical and mental well-being. The top court, in a statement, said 12 sports and 9 cultural events will be organised.
