On Camera, Madhya Pradesh Man Beaten For Alleged Molestation, 6 Arrested

A young man was assaulted mercilessly in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly molesting a woman. Six men have been arrested and a case has been filed by the police in Khandwa, where the assault took place. A video of the attack, which is being widely circulated on social media, show a group of men surrounding the man in the parking lot of a shopping mall. Initially they threaten him and demand that he answer their questions. Then they abuse him and start slapping him. He was then dragged in the middle of the room and two men with rods start hitting him. Police sources said the incident took place on January 3 and was reported to them the same day. 14-Year-Old Girl Dies In Gujarat; Family Blames Cold Weather, School

A 14-year-old girl studying in Class 8 in Gujarat's Rajkot city died after suddenly collapsing in her school, with her family members claiming that she died due to cold weather conditions and added that the school authorities should have allowed students to use warm clothes of their choice instead of just uniform sweaters. The incident took place on Tuesday at A V Jasani Vidya Mandir, prompting the district education authorities to direct that the schools be opened an hour later than their normal start time in the morning in view of the prevailing cold weather conditions and also allow flexibility in wearing of warm clothes by students. Doctors said victim Riya Sagar's death appeared to be due to a cardiac arrest, while her family maintained that she did not suffer from any health complications. An image of a model question paper from a school in Bengal, asking students to mark "Azad Kashmir" on a map, has been widely distributed on social media, setting off a controversy ahead of Class 10 board exams. The school in question is Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Vidyamandir School of Malda. Pakistan and terrorist organisations refer to Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir as "Azad Kashmir".   Various schools and teachers' association, as well as the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, issue model question papers every year to aid the preparations for board examinees. Retired director general of the Border Security Force (BSF) Pankaj Kumar Singh was on Monday appointed as deputy national security adviser. According to an official order, Mr Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed on a re-employment contract for a period of two years. Mr Singh retired as BSF chief on December 31, 2022. When he took charge of the BSF on August 31, 2021, he had created history of a son and a father holding the top post of a paramilitary force during their services. His father and retired IPS officer of the 1959-batch, Prakash Singh, had also headed the BSF from June, 1993 to January, 1994. Indian-Origin Worker Suspended By Singapore Migrant Workers Charity

A migrant workers charity based in Singapore on Tuesday suspended a top Indian-origin employee following allegations of misappropriation of funds. In a statement, the Humanitarian Organisation for Migration Economics (HOME) said its executive director Deshi Gill was suspended until an internal inquiry, according to a Channel News Asia report. "After preliminary investigations, we believe there is a basis for suspected misconduct," said HOME, which handles migrant workers employed in labour-intensive industries, including those from India. HOME said it has notified the relevant authorities of the development. "HOME's board and staff will provide all necessary information as part of any investigations that will be carried out," it said.
